Die „Perle Afrikas“! Uganda befindet sich im südlichen Teil Afrikas, die Hauptstadt ist Kampala mit 1,7 Mio. Einwohner:innen. Der Süden des Landes umfasst einen Großteil des wunderschönen Viktoriasees. Die verbreitetsten Sprachen in Uganda sind Englisch, Ganda/Luganda und Swahili. Grenzenlos arbeitet mit der Partnerorganisationen ICYE Uganda (UVP – Volunteers for Peace Uganda) zusammen.

Experience Uganda – Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen: Wisdom standard primary school
Wisdom standard primary school was established in 2004 and the main objective of starting the school project was to provide quality basic primary education to poor rural children who cannot afford expensive education in urban areas. Apart from equipping children with class work as per ministry of education, the school also gives co-curricular skills in areas like crafts, games, tailoring, boys’ and girls’ brigade, gardening and much more.
Main activities: teaching, music, dance and drama, games and sports, gardening, sanitation, as well as computer training
Volunteer’s working time: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., around 35 to 40 hours
Location: The school is in a rural area (Bugema Kalungu village near Bugema University) but very busy and the road network is perfect, it is 2 hours from the main City Kampala without traffic.

Experience Uganda – Gesundheit: Uganda Youth and Women´s Effort Fighting Aids
This project was established in 2007 by people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Kazo Parish Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District (7 Km from Kampala). UYWEFA’s mission is to improve the livelihood of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through health, education and economic empowering programs. Some of the main activities are to work in clinics in communities, community HIV sensitization, gender equality and gender empowerment, counseling and guidance, community workshops, teaching English and assist in teaching activities.
Today, the organization has expanded to provide formal education and vocational training opportunities to three hundred orphans and vulnerable children. Youth friendly services, such as videography to one hundred young people infected by HIV/AIDS and those at risk. It has also provided economic empowerment opportunities and psychosocial support for fifty single mothers living with HIV/AIDS.
Volunteer’s working time: Mostly from Monday to Friday. Working hours are between 20 and 40 hours a week.
Location: Kazo Parish Nansana municipality in Wakiso district.
