Bem-Vindo a Moçambique! Mosambik ist ein Land in Südostafrika mit einer Fläche von 800 000 km². Die Hauptstadt ist Maputo. Die Einwohnerzahl liegt bei ca. 32 Mio., wovon ca. 1,1 Mio. in Maputo leben. Die häufigsten mosambikanischen Sprachen sind Emakhuwa, das 30 % der Bevölkerung sprechen und Portugiesisch (25 %). Associacao Juvenil para o Desenvolvimento do Voluntariado em Moçambique (AJUDE) ist eine Jugend-NGO und -NPO, die 1993 gegründet wurde und ihren Sitz in Maputo hat. Seit 2001 ist AJUDE Teil des ICYE-Netzwerks.

Experience Mosambik – Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Behinderungen: Obra Dom Oriome
The main purpose of the project is to work as a center for disabled children with rehabilitation. It is run by the Catholic church. The center hosts children with various disabilities. A lot of them just come for one day, so there is nothing known about their past and family circumstances. The main activity of this project is to create a place for the children to feel at home and to feel wanted.
The tasks of the volunteers may vary according to the daily schedule fixed by the organization, but the following are routine tasks: to take care of the children like feeding, cleaning, observing them, to get them to adjust to “daily things”, e.g. wearing clothes, contact, pay attention to them and support them, to help with the physiotherapy.
Location: Maputo
Volunteer requirements/Skills: Willingness to work with children, be flexible, skills or knowledge in arts and crafts are extremely helpful, patience
Volunteer’s working time: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Working hours are between 20 and 40 hours a week.

Volunteer requirements/Skills: The volunteer should be communicative no matter the language, passionate about community work, open to learn and able to share personal experience, active and creative, has interest in learning about the local community, has manual skills (painting, drawing, crafting skills, etc).
Volunteer’s working time: Mostly from Monday to Friday. Working hours are between 20 and 40 hours a week.
