Die Republik Moldau oder Moldawien ist ein Binnenstaat in Südosteuropa. Das Land grenzt im Westen an Rumänien; im Norden, Süden und Osten ist das Land von der Ukraine umschlossen. Die Hauptstadt ist Chişinău, die Amtssprache Rumänisch. Auch Russisch und Ukrainisch werden gesprochen. Die Partnerorganisation ist ADVIT (Association for Development Voluntary Service for Youth Moldova).

Experience Moldawien – Soziales: Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR)

Main objectives of the Charity Centre for Refugees are to provide cultural, moral and material assistance to refugees and asylum seekers; to help them to integrate in the Moldovan society. Main activities of the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) are services for refugees and asylum seekers, so that they could come and discuss their common interests and problems, participate in different events, meetings, seminars, etc. CCR organizes entertaining activities for refugees and asylum seekers and their children like on the International Women’s Day, the International Children’s Day, the Refugee Day, a New Year party, a Christmas party. CCR also carries out ecological activities with the participation of refugees and asylum seekers; CCR provides Romanian, Russian and English language classes for refugees and asylum seekers and their children; CCR provides refugee children with a room equipped with furniture and toys; CCR organizes excursions for refugee children and their mothers on the territory of Chisinau city (to museums, zoo, etc.).

Location: The project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau.

Volunteer Tasks & Role (including indicative working hours): Volunteers participate in the organization of language and computer lessons and of outdoor activities, provide personal support to refugees, asylum seekers and their families, run activities for the children, organize different clubs, e.g. cooking club, pottery club.  Working hours: 4-6 hours/day

Desired Volunteer’s Skills: The volunteer should be motivated to work in a multi-cultural atmosphere. The volunteer should be able to work independently and to cope with the existing social and cultural differences in Moldova and the refugee community. For these reasons, characteristics such as flexibility, adaptability, maturity and personal motivation will be highly desired.

Accommodation: There are different types of accommodation:
• your own bedroom in the project, with access to a shared bathroom and kitchen
• a bedroom at a host family
• a bedroom in a flat outside of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together
• It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application.

Food: Volunteers receive food allowance.

Practical & additional Information (i.e. what to bring): Check list – what you need to bring with you:
• bed clothes and towels
• warm clothes and good, waterproof shoes in case of winter
• some information about your country: pictures, maps, books, coins, recipes, etc.
• small gifts from your country to give to people in your host project

Experience Moldawien – Kinderbetreuung: Small Groups Home

The project aims to provide a temporary home to vulnerable children, to those leaving large-scale residential units to family reunification or to be placed with foster carers. The placement lasts until the childrens’ reintegration with their biological or extended families. If this is not possible, an alternative placement is identified. The main objective is to offer a temporary home to children who are to be reintegrated into their birth family or to be placed in a foster care family.

Location: The project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau.

Main Aims and Activities: Small Groups Home offers:
• board and lodging for children
• medical and psychological assistance for children
• psychological assistance for parents
• organization of the workshops on child protection
• individual counselling
• crisis intervention

Volunteer Tasks & Role (including indicative working hours): Volunteers’ main tasks are to play with the children, using his/her creativity, assist the children with their daily needs and responsibilities, read stories and songs in easy language, help to organize outings and to lead excursions with children groups, participate in painting and crafts workshops, in theatre and music groups. Working hours: 4-6 hours/day

Desired Volunteer’s Skills: The main criterion is patience, according to small children and their needs, moreover open-heartedness, kindness and desire to work with children.

Accommodation: There are two different types of accommodation:
• a bedroom in the host family
• a bedroom in a flat outside of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together
