Kindergarten, Russland

The main idea of the Waldorf pedagogical system is that childhood is a unique period in human life: it is impossible to consider this age as the same as the elder one. It is very important to give a child the opportunity for development in a natural way, according to the age and abilities. The first Waldorf School was established in 1919 in Stuttgart. Rudolf Stainer was not only an author of the idea and a head of the school but also the founder of a special pedagogical system, therapeutic pedagogic and medicine, and a whole spiritual school. Nowadays there are 30 Waldorf Secondary Schools and 60 Waldorf Kindergartens in Russia. 12 years ago, one small group for little children was established on the basis of Samara Waldorf Secondary School. There are 40 children from 2,5 to 6,5 years old in the Kindergarten at the moment. All of them are brought up in an atmosphere of joy, music, songs, theatre, tales, and festivals, warmed with love and care.

Location: Samara.

The volunteer tasks: The volunteer is supposed to participate in everyday activities of the Waldorf Kindergarten, including work with children, which may consist of playing games, toy-making, reading, painting, music, modelling, theatre, etc. Assistance in the preparation for holidays and festivals. Assistance to the staff in everyday work. Organization of any activity for parents (music, needlework, etc.).

Volunteer’s working time: Mostly from Monday to Friday. Working hours are between 20 and 40 hours a week.
